Audio of Grave Labyrinth excerpt
Grave Labyrinth synopsis:  Cassie's Halloween weekend in Lewes, Delaware should warn her off: her future mother-in-law hates her on sight, her fiancée is being stalked, and then blood leaks out of the trunk of her car. Twisted between sins of the past and the present, Cassie delves into mystery during one twenty-four hour visit to the historic seaport.

selection from "October Assateague"

Dark birds float on flat water,
Hardly recognized as the ocean today.
It is deep blue, rarely breaking, and then
Rolling into a gentle slap just before the sand,
The way the river used to do to the bulkheads
At home, shoving into them playfully.
These dark birds—not the usual brown pelicans,
Hunt alone or comingle with odd seagulls,
The gulls that look prehistoric, gigantic.
They glide over the water and spy the right
Spot to land and then just sit. No diving,
Eating, or scouting except for a place to
Float with the rollers just before
They nudge the shore.

Charlie's Heart 2020 Autumn Project

Set on the other side of the tracks in the Berlin and Ocean City area, a nurse supports her aging parents as they struggle to keep the family farm. Mix Eastern Shore values with the residual effects of the COVID19 on health care workers, and a fateful visit by Charlie's selfish brother to the farm after a long absence. Local history, romance, and family dynamics rule in this novella inspired by romance-writer Betty Kneels.
